Our Story

At first, STUDIO 518 seemed like the best option, the word “STUDIO” covering the different avenues we wanted to incorporate with this business. 

But after some research and scoping the surrounding area, we noticed a few businesses started with the word “STUDIO”. 

As individuals, we have never been generic or tried to follow trends, at times going against the grain of what “normal” is perceived as in society, often ridiculed for being who and what we wanted to be, dressing how we wanted that represented our personalities.

We want everybody that walks through our doors to feel comfortable, no matter how quirky and different it may be to other people, we are here to welcome all and with open arms.We have landed on a name for our new place to call home, and we hope you love it as much as we do.

Meet Davide

Davide comes from an Italian background, born and bred in Sydney’s Inner West. He loves live music, travelling, fashion and is passionate about barbering.

When he is not working you’ll find Davide at the gym or spending quality time with his family and beloved English Staffy, Cleo.

After finishing high school, Davide explored many different career choices before finding his true passion in men’s hair. Davide learnt the trade from his father who has been in the industry for 40+ years.

He then consolidated his training and became the first barber to graduate at TAFE New South Wales, achieving a Certificate III in Barbering. Davide has furthered his education with the leading pioneers in the men’s hair industry such as Menspire and Barber Josh O.P.

Meet Sab

Sab grew up playing football and took his playing career to Manchester United in the UK at the young age of 15 years old.

After an injury forced him to stop playing, Sab fell into the fashion industry where he learned the craft of outfitting and customer service, establishing relationships overseas and the city of Sydney.

His love for the Sydney night life then took him into the promo industry, allowing him to outfit his customers and organising a fun night on the town.

After years in the trade managing the Politix store in the QVB, he was promoted to area manager for the Established shoe brand Aquila.His knowledge quickly grew, and decided to open this family business District 518 - a hybrid store of clothing and barbering under one roof.
